Joint Power Control and Topology-Transparent Scheduling in Mobile Multi-Hop Networks under Physical Interference Model

Topology-transparent scheduling algorithms can work well in mobile multi-hop networks, since they are oblivious to the network topology changes and can provide throughput and delay guarantees. However, to the best of our knowledge, all existing work on topology-transparent scheduling assume the simple, but unrealistic protocol interference model. In this paper, we address the topology-transparent scheduling problem in wireless mobile multi-hop networks with the realistic physical interference model, which reflects the aggregated Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR) and thus is a more accurate abstraction of the real scenarios. Under the physical interference model, we analyse and classify the interference among users, and based on which, propose a simple but efficient power control policy to utilize the unassigned slots to improve the average network throughput. The simulations are conducted to demonstrate the capacity and throughput of the proposed algorithm under the physical interference model.
