Neutron producing targets at GELINA

Abstract A description of mercury-cooled uranium targets developed in recent years is given together with their conditions of operation. They are used with the CBNM Linear Electron Accelerator to produce neutrons mainly by (γ, n) reactions. Emphasis is put on an original rotary target which is able to dissipate, in uranium, more than 20 kW electron beam power.
