Performance Study on the ECID Positioning Enhancement in LTE-A Het-Net with RRH

As the development of mobile networks, the positioning technologies meet some challenges. Some positioning technologies, such as enhanced cell identity (ECID) and observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) in LTE, need enhancement for positioning in LTE-A heterogeneous network (het-net) scenarios to improve positioning accuracy. In this paper, we focus on the ECID positioning method in het-net scenario with remote radio heads (RRH), and we propose an enhancement scheme to distinguish the source of the reference signal. Then, we analyze the performance of ECID enhancement in Het-Net scenario. Simulation results show that if the received signal from different RRHs can be distinguished, the positioning accuracy will be improved by utilizing the RRHs in het-net for positioning purpose.
