Abstract In this paper, price evolutions are described by a multidimensional context-sensitive formal grammar of terminal symbols representing basic price evolution patterns as used in technical analysis. Further-more, knowledge bases are described for the segmen- tation of price curves, as well as for the automatic generation of trades. Relation is described to trend analysis tools as well as to forecasting.
