Novel Mechanical Design Method for Fixed-pitch Co-axial Rotor Unmanned Helicopter

In this study, we are aiming at establish novel procedure of mechanical design for fixed-pitch co-axial rotor unmanned helicopter based on motion analysis. First, dynamics of a fixed-pitch co-axial rotor helicopter is modeled by using multi-body dynamics technique. In the modeling process, the helicopter is considered as 4 rigid body system consists of mission and frame unit, and two rotors. Second, fundamental motion analysis is performed using the model to know the relation between the motion and mechanical characteristics of the helicopter. Finally, some optimal mechanical parameter is determined by using the result of the motion analysis.
