A Novel Fault Tolerant Inverter for Islanded Microgrid

A fault tolerant inverter structure and the control strategy applied to islanded microgrid have been proposed. Firstly, the topology structure of the fault tolerant inverter is given. When the power switching device in the fault tolerant inverter is fault, the inverter circuit is reconfigured from the normal operating state to the fault operating state. The operational principles of the fault tolerant inverter in the normal and the fault operating state are analyzed. Secondly, a fault tolerant pulse signal algorithm is proposed, which combines with VI control and DC-side voltage control to form the control strategy that enable the proposed fault tolerant inverter does not need to convert the control algorithm from the normal operating state to the fault operating state. The reliability of the system is improved. Finally, the simulating results verify the correctness of the proposed fault tolerant inverter topology structure and the control strategy.
