On the problem of the polarimetric contrast optimization

The concept of the polarimetric contrast optimization considers the reflection of a polarized radar signal by two targets (one of which is often distributed clutter). A situation is considered here in which the signal due to the target is amplified, while the signal due to the clutter is minimized. A new mathematical formulation is proposed for this problem. The vector heights of both the transmitting and receiving antennas are the two optimization variables. This optimization is solved on the basis of an algebraic approach, and the optimal polarizations are found.<<ETX>>
