A novel CDMA-based fiber-optic microcellular system: FoMiCell/sup TM/

An 800-MHz CDMA-based fiber-optic microcellular system has ban developed. This system is implemented on the optical passive double star network using subcarrier multiplexing and subcarrier multiple access techniques. We utilized intermediate frequencies to access each micro base-station. A bi-directional transmission was achieved by using a 1.55-/spl mu/m DFB laser for the forward link and 1.3-/spl mu/m LEDs for the reverse link. The result confirms that this system is effective not only for implementing microcellular systems, but also for covering the radio-blind areas such as inside of buildings and underground shopping malls.
