Software Aid for Optimizing 0-1 Matrices.

Abstract : The problem has arisen in a study of the retention of information from visual and verbal sources. Mathematically it is likely to be a difficult problem, however, and thus only good not optimal solutions are expected. A software package has been written to assist a human operator in searching for such desirable matrices. This is described here, and its use in the study is reviewed.
