The Marr Prize special issue is one of the best traditions of the International Journal of Computer Vision; publishing winners and honorable mentions of the Marr Prize (best paper awards) at the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV). The Marr Prize papers are naturally of the highest quality, and represent the progress of computer vision at the time. The Sixth International Conference on Computer Vision was held on January 4–7, 1998 in Bombay, India, the first outside of the US, Europe and Japan. Two winning papers and one honorable mention were selected from those presented.
