Effect of chemical structure on the solubility of antioxidants in supercritical carbon dioxide: experimental data and correlation

Abstract In this work, the solubility of natural and synthetic antioxidants in supercritical carbon dioxide is determined by a dynamic method in the pressure range 130–250 bar at 308.1–333.1 K. The compounds considered are ascorbic acid, ascorbyl palmitate, gallic acid, propyl gallate, lauryl gallate, α-tocopherol acid succinate and butyl hydroxyl anisole. The experimental data are correlated using the Peng–Robinson equation of state, and the solute properties are estimated by group contribution methods.
