MODEL REFERENCE CONTROL IN SECOND- ORDER DYNAMIC SYSTEMS

In this paper, existence and solution of the feedforward plus feedback control law for model reference control of a class of second-order dynamic systems are investigated. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the controllers is established. Based on a result of parametric eigenstructure assignment in second-order dynamic systems, general complete parametric expressions for the controllers are presented and a parametric approach to design the feedforward plus feedback control logic is proposed. The parametric approach offers all the design degrees of freedom which can be further specified to satisfy some additional system performances. In addition, the parametric method utilizes directly the original system data, and thus is convenient to use in applications. A numerical example shows the effect of the proposed parametric method.
