A Note on Order Statistics from Pareto Distribution

Abstract Several papers have recently dealt with order statistics from Pareto distribution. Kabe (1972) presents a method which simplifies Malik's (1967, 1970) computation of product moments of Pareto (and power function) order statistics. Samanta (1972) proposes a twofold improvement over Malik's (1970) theorem characterizing Pareto distribution. The purpose of this note is to provide an alternative to Kabe (1972) and to comment on Samanta (1972).
