Object-Based MPEG-4 Authoring Tool for Supporting Sensor Actions and 3D Specifications

An MPEG-4 scene comprises of various synthetic objects and media data. The scene description includes each object's attributes and behavior. This paper proposes and implements an object-based MPEG-4 authoring tool for supporting sensor actions and 3D specifications, called the O4AT system. The system provides a user-friendly interface and helps the author to create easily an MPEG-4 scene that comprises heterogeneous media objects and related editing sensor actions, and to produce standard MPEG-4 contents with provision of 3D animation presentations. This work hopes to serve as a good reference in the development of MPEG-4 authoring tool systems in Internet and pervasive environments.
