Design Research: Building Human-Centered System

This paper describes the design research undertaken for existing content management software to improve the user experience. We describe how we arrived at the conceptual models for the redesigned tool and the research methodologies we used to determine whether the user interfaces represented by these models would meet our users' needs, tasks, and goals. We present the results from the field trips where we conducted contextual enquiry, focus groups, early prototype tests, and collected survey data that shaped the subsequent modifications of this tool. We found out that our users need a personalized system that supports a socio-collaborative model. We conclude with a description of the redesign based on what we learnt.
