Sensor-based fixed-point DSP control of a 8/6 Switched Reluctance Motor

This paper deals with a current control method of a 8/6 Switched Reluctance Motor using a DSP TMS320C24×. The power converter used in the experiments was a classic one, with two transistors per phase. The current is sensed using two sensor resistances, one for a pair of phases. The current is measured only if the two transistors of the same phase are on. The current control loop is performed using a PWM with a fixed frequency and a variable duty-ratio. A proportional controller has been used to regulate the phase current. A PI controller has been used to regulate the motor speed.
