ASCOSPHAERA ACEROSA SP. NOV. ISOLATED FROM THE ALFALFA LEAFCUTTING BEE, WITH A KEY TO THE SPECIES OF ASCOSPHAERA

Ascosphaera acerosa sp. nov. was isolated from a dead larva of the alfalfa leafcutting bee, Megachile rotundata (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae). The species is distinguished by the narrow spindle- shaped ascospores. An identification key is provided for the 21 species currently known in the genus As- cosphaera.
