The Characteristic Scientific Phenomena of Engineering Response to Deep Rock Mass and the Implication of Deepness

Based on the measured results and case studies, a series of characteristic scientific phenomena, as response to deep rock mass engineering, induced into static and dynamic categories, are intoduced Static scientific phenomenon means the occurrence of fractured zone and non-fractured zone alternatively in the surrounding rocks in deep rock mass engineering, whereas the dynamic ones include the bursts in the form of rock-block projecting and rock couapse in deep shafts, and engineering-induced earthquakes i.e. dynamic event of bump pressureduring underground blasting in rock mass. The essence of dynamic characteristic phenomena are expounded, and low speed reversal waves (pendulum-shaped waves) during rock block movement, are also introduced. At the end, the concept of deepness and its identification are discussed.
