Voice enabled request and response for mobile devices supporting WAP protocol

With the development of WAP and the subsequent morphosis of the mobile phone and the Web, a need arises for a system capable of accessing telephony and Web-browsing features in WAP enabled cellular phones with ease. The paper develops such a system capable of handling voice request and response thus greatly simplifying the above tasks. The hardware as well as the protocol considerations involved is discussed. Aimed at packet switched networks (e.g. GSM GPRS), it proposes a tightly coupled speech analysis (recognition and synthesis) engine, embedded in the mobile device itself.
