to the editor: We thank Drs. Quaresima and Ferrari ([16][1]) for alerting us to their disquiet regarding our statement that HHb (deoxygenated hemoglobin) is “relatively insensitive to blood volume changes during exercise and thus reflects the balance between O2 delivery and utilization.” However
