Processing of images and image series: A tutorial review for chemical microanalysis

Besides spectroscopic methods, imaging methods are more and more used in several fields of microanalysis in chemistry. This paper gives a broad review of the problems encountered when trying to extract information from such images and image series. A description of some of the procedures which are already available for solving these problems is given. The emphasis is put on multivariable strategies.
