A nanocrystalline Fe-based alloy with Cu and Nb additions was shown to form through rapid crystallization (within several seconds) from an initially amorphous state at elevated temperatures (580-670°C). It was found that crystalline grains obtained by this technique are smaller in size and of a more perfect crystal structure than upon conventional annealing at 540°C for a long time (1 h). The coercivity of the rapidly crystallized alloy was twice as small
