Key Factors that Affects Adoption of Technology in the Nigerian Construction Firms: A Theoretical Framework

Information and communication technology is an innovation that was introduced to make things easier and faster with efficiency and effectiveness. But Nigerians construction firms were hindered from enjoying this benefit by some elements which are not clearly identified. However, due to the limitations identified in the previous studies regarding the factors that affects ICT adoption in the Nigerian construction firms, there is need to develop a framework which will capture those attributes that contributes to its slow adoption. These made this study to review relevant factors and developed a framework that shows how they relate. The factors that were discovered are Culture, Policy, and Cost. The framework developed was supported by Roger’s innovation diffusion theory. It also provides a ground in which the effect of these factors can be examine in any kind of research related to ICT adoption.
