A combined controller for induction motor fed by matrix converter

In order to realize high performance control of matrix converter fed induction motor drive system, a combined controller is proposed to implement both space vector modulation and direct field oriented control. Space vector modulation is employed to regulate the input/output sinusoidal currents of matrix converter. The direct field oriented control technique is applied on the drive system to ensure the good performance of induction motor. Using this controller, it is possible to combine the advantages of matrix converter with the advantages of vector control technique. Simulation and experimental results have demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed controller.
