Interdisciplinary Studies in Electrical Engineering and Environmental Medicine

I. Summary A new interdisciplinary graduate program at Vanderbilt University concentrates on the interfaces between epidemiology, preventive medicine, public health, ecology, biophysics, etc., on the one hand and systems analysis, computer science, control theory, information theory, electronics, etc., on the other. This is a Ph.D. program and has been designated 'Environment Sciences'. An unusual feature is that it is administered by the Department of Electrical Engineering and is designed to equip electrical engineering and engineering science graduates for research into the problems of the human environment. A briefdescription is given of the formal course-work, and the research areas.
