The computational Simulation by Elasto-Plastic FEM for the Laying of Metal Wire Rope

A elasto-plastic finite element method with co-rotational coordinate is established to consider the large rotational geometrical nonlinear under the laying forming of metal wire in this paper. Moreover, the method is applied to the computational modeling of the laying processes of metal wire, and the effects of the process parameters on the distributions of the strains and stresses under the laying and the residual stresses are explored. This research could supply foundations for the reasonable designs of the process parameters and the structural strengths.
