TEENS SAY YES TO SAFE DRIVING

The article describes the Oklahoma governor's reward to the high school that has done the most to reach teens on traffic safety, and Newkirk High School's efforts that have won it from 1989 through 1991. The Oklahoma Challenge is a challenge for teens to go into their schools and communities and take an active role regarding safety belt use and drinking. It is a joint project of the Oklahoma Highway Safety office and Educational Alternaitves, a nonprofit organization. Twice a month, 300 teens from 500 high schools get together with college students to learn how to be leaders in the fight against drinking and driving in their own communities. This article describes their efforts.
