Review of the multifocal electroretinogram and its clinical application

The multifocal electroretinogram (mERG) can be used to record many focal electroretinogram responses across the test field in a relatively short period of time, providing insights into the mechanisms of retinal diseases. It can be used in the early diagnosis and prognosis of some retinal diseases, and can be used to objectively and sensitively observe the curative effect of medicine or surgery. The present paper reviews the recording and analyzing procedures and the clinical applications of the multifocal ERG.
