Elastic Scattering and Reactions of Protons on O 18

The elastic scattering ${\mathrm{O}}^{18}(p, p){\mathrm{O}}^{18}$ and the reactions ${\mathrm{O}}^{18}(p, {p}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\gamma}){\mathrm{O}}^{18}$, ${\mathrm{O}}^{18}(p, {\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{0}){\mathrm{N}}^{15}$, and ${\mathrm{O}}^{18}(p, {\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{1,2}{\ensuremath{\gamma}}_{1,2}){\mathrm{N}}^{15}$ were studied using a thin gas target with the State University of Iowa electrostatic generator. Absolute differential cross sections were measured for the two laboratory angles 86.8\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} and 159.5\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} in the incident proton energy range 790 to 3550 kev and angular distributions for ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{0}$ and $p$ were measured at several energies. Relative yield curves of gamma rays were obtained in the same energy range as above. The ${\mathrm{F}}^{19}$ levels were observed which have not been previously reported and some new decay modes for previously known levels were observed. From consideration of the detailed shape of the elastic-scattering anomalies and the angular distributions, spin and parity assignments were made to some ${\mathrm{F}}^{19}$ levels.
