Application of Virtual Instrument on Ultrahigh-Frequency Acoustic Sensor Measurement

Ultrahigh-Frequency (UHF) acoustic sensor above 500 kHz has a widespread application in the field of underwater acoustic in recent years. The important characteristic of UHF acoustic sensor is exceedingly sharp directional. The traditional method to measure sensor on directivity cannot meet the UFH acoustic sensor, which require a high precision, high efficiency and automation measurement. In this paper, a platform for UHF acoustic sensor measurement system based on virtual instrument is developed. Comparing with traditional manual method, the platform cannot only measure the acoustic sensor with a frequency range 500 kHz to 1 MHz, but also it can improve efficiency greatly and increases angular resolution to 0.5°. In the end we measure a UHF acoustic sensor which the resonance frequency is 700 kHz. The result indicated that the UHF acoustic sensor measurement platform based on virtual instrument has a high precision and closely reflect the real sharp directivity of the sensor, meanwhile, the measurement efficiency is greatly improved.
