Application of fuzzy pattern recognition model in re-vegetation suitability evaluation in a mining site

The present article is aimed at introducing a fuzzy pattern recognition model developed by the author for assessing the vegetation reclamation suitability of a mining site in Anhui,China. For the sake of successful assessment we have chosen two important factors, the weight index and evaluation model and put them into the whole system. In proceeding with our research,we have first of all established an evaluation index system including three aspects:the external conditions, the terrain and soil, and the actual environment conditions, while taking into full account the influential factors of the vegetation reclamation. And,then, based on the above three aspects,we have carefully selected such evaluation indexes,as the soil texture, effective thickness of soil layer, the terrain slope, the irrigation facilities, the local rainfall, cumulative temperature, location conditions, pollution level and mining-caused damage area, etc. And,afterwards,we began to plan and try to finish our assessment by applying the improved analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to weight and accomplish the assessment by using the fuzzy pattern recognition model we have developed. And,finally, the results of our assessment indicate that the dumping site reclamation through forestation proves to be of medium suitability. At the same time,we have confirmed the weights of the evaluation indexes by using our improved analytic hierarchical process, which proves better than the traditional one,and shorter and smarter by reducing some subjective effects.Furthermore, the results show that the fuzzy pattern recognition model proves to be better discriminated, more stable and more reasonable. What is more, the results of this paper can be taken as a basis for ecological reconstruction program.
