Pulp tissue response to partial flling of the pulp cavity, under compression, by calcium hydroxide, using a new device

Eleven human teeth cavities wer partially filled under prssure with a calcium hydroxide paste, using a speial injector. Tetracyline labeling, prior extraction, was used to study the bioloical activity of odontoblasts. Undecalcifed teth were examined under light, UV and scanning electron micoscopy, 76±22 days after injection. A complete reparative dentin brdge was observed in 12 of the 2S root-canals and a partial sealing was demonstrated in 9 root-canals. The remaining root-canals were either fully occluded, or necrotic, or no reactive. These results indicate that the technique used is reliable for partial or complete tooth devitalization.
