A Health Care System Based on PLC and Zigbee

In this paper, we introduce an intelligent remote health care system based on powerline communication (PLC) networks and Zigbee. It consists of a set of physiological sensors, a Zigbee/PLC gateway connected to sensors wirelessly and special software in the controlling center. Physiological data collected by sensors will be transmitted via Zigbee/PLC networks to the controlling center where the data is stored, analyzed and present to users in a visual way. First, there is an overview about PLC and Zigbee techniques. Second, system architecture of the health care system is proposed. Then, we focus on the details about the individual subsystems. We also describe the network protocols, working process and application of the system.
