Brillouin Scattering Study of the Paraelectric-Incommensurate Phase Transition in K 2 SeO 4

Brillouin scattering spectra of K 2 SeO 4 were observed near the paraelectric-incommensurate phase-transition temperature T 2 (129.5 K). The velocity of longitudinal hypersonic wave propagating along the [001] direction shows an anomalous temperature dependence around T 2 , while along the [100] and [010] directions, the velocity shows no anomaly.
