Liangshan standardized Yi language is a phonographic syllabic language which takes Shengzha dialect of the northern Yi language as the basic dialect and Xide pronunciation as the standard pronunciation. Most standardized Yi characters in Liangshan, Sichuan province are single-character forms composed by basic strokes. According to the principles of resemblance, rotatability, consistency and assimilation, this paper disassembles Yi characters into eight basic strokes including horizontal, vertical, semi-enclosed, full-enclosed, and the broken line, curve, oblique and hook, and then accordingly maps them to the keyboard codes resembling English letters. In addition, the 9-key form coding is adopted to classify and encode the basic strokes so as to make the coding process feature the accessibility of learning, moderate code length, low code repetition, fast input and strong extensibility. The last but not least, the coding form is applicable to convert the strokes to numeric keys and to code the traditional Yi character.
