E-Commerce in Small and Medium Enterprises in Sri Lanka

Thegrowthofinformationtechnologyinthebusinessworldisspreadingataphenomenalrate.The successofabusinessorganizationstandsattheusageofITintheirbusiness.Growthofe-commerce isthenewbornbusinessmethod,whichhasoriginatedthroughanextensiveusageofITintheir business.Thisstudywillfocusonthelevelofadoptionofe-commerceinapopulationof30SMEs undertheBOI,therelationshipbetweenfirm-basedcharacteristicsandtheadoptionofe-commerce andalsomore importantly findout thecriticalsuccess factorsanddiscoverpotentialbenefitsof adoptionofe-commerceinSMEs.Theresultsontheadoptionofe-commerceshowedasignificant relationshipwiththetwofirm-basedcharacteristics.Thatismanagementinvolvementandadoption ofIT.Thestudyalsoidentifiede-marketingandsupplierserviceasthecriticalsuccessfactorsin adoptionofe-commerce.
