Automatic test unit for electrical batteries

Abstract The unit described in this paper is a part of the research project on electrical vehicles at the Brussels Universities. To determine the effects of the loading solicitations of an electrical vehicle on its battery, this unit simulates these solicitations on lead-aoid batteries. These tests are performed simultaneously on four batteries. Obviously, the effects on other tyoes of batteries may be examined with the same unit. To have the best results, real-time tests are executed. So, the duration of the whole experiments until complete breakdown of the equipment is given first. Then, the paper presents the microprocessor program used for process-control. Finally, the intended investigations on the subject are given.
