SDOF System Damage Spectra and Their Application

To reveal reasonably the elasto-plastic performance of structures under earthquake, the coupling effect of the maximum elasto-plastic displacement and accumulated hysteretic energy is considered.Damage spectra of single degree of freedom(SDOF) systems are built and a spectra-based aseismatic evaluation method is proposed. In the light of Park-Ang bi-parameter seismic damage model, damage spectra of four-class sites based on strength reduction factor are established after lots of SDOF inelastic time history analysis.Simplified functional expression of damage spectra is evaluated by statistical mean method and regression analysis. An example is used to confirm the validity of the spectra-based aseismatic performance evaluation method. The example analysis shows that: the method proposed here is reasonable to consider the impact of the cumulative hysteretic energy on the structural damage. The results from the method have good consistency with the time history analysis results. It can assess the extent of structural damage from the statistical viewpoint.
