A Review of Optimal Shock Isolation

Non-contact underwater explosion is the main threaten for warships, especially for submarines. Because many shock protection means can be used to limit the rattlespace (i.e., the maximum displacement of the equipment relative to the base) and the peak acceleration experienced by the equipment. Taking shock protection means and choosing the equipment with best shock-resistant performance while designing the settings can assure the safety of the on board settings. The optimization design method can be used to design the on board shock-resistant equipments. This is a review of the investigations in the field of optimum shock isolation. This survey covers the literatures from the initial studies to the present.Copyright © 2003 by ASME
