Calliergon richardsonii (Mitt.) Kindb. from the Late Devensian of Lang Lochs mire, Shetland

AbstractMacrofossils of C. richardsonii, a moss not found in the living state in Britain, have been identified in mineral inwash deposits from Mainland Bhetland. Associated macrofossils and pollen indicate a Late Devensian origin and correlation of pollen spectra with those of a similar 14C-dated site in Shetland suggests a date of around 10,400 B.P.
