With the emergence of IP-enabled wireless sensornetworks(WSNs),thelandscapeofIoTisrapidlychanging.Nevertheless,thistechnology has exacerbated the conventional security issues in WSNs, such as the key exchange problem. Therefore,TinyAuthenticatedKeyExchangeProtocolforIoT(TAKE-IoT)isproposedtosolvethis problem.TheproposedTAKE-IoTisasecure,yetefficient,protocolthatrespondstoseveralsecurity requirementsandwithstandsvarioustypesofknownattacks.Moreover,TAKE-IoTaimstoreduce computationcostsusing lightweightoperations for thekeygeneration.Theproposedprotocol is validatedusingtheautomatedvalidationofinternetsecurityprotocolsandapplications(AVISPA) tool.Hence,resultsshowthatTAKE-IoTcanreachaproperlevelofsecuritywithoutsacrificingits efficiencyinthecontextofIoT.
