Adaptive three-channel dual-output analogue line drivers for video applications

A new adaptive three-channel dual-output analogue line driver for video applications is presented. This type of line driver can adapt its output impedance automatically to the applied loads. This results in automatically corrected output impedance for different cables with terminations. Also, the line-driver output impedance becomes insensitive to process variations. The circuit operates from a 5-V supply in a 0.5/spl mu/m DPDM CMOS technology. The chip area is only equal to 1.125 mm/sup 2/. The realized circuit adapts between 38 /spl Omega/ and 300 /spl Omega/ loads with 100 MHz bandwidth. The proposed line driver is suitable for low-cost AV switches in television, DVDs, set top boxes and other digital video devices.
