GUIDO: visualizing document retrieval

GUIDO (GUI for DOcuments) is a visual information retrieval interface (VIRI) that focuses on retrieval rather than on document organization. This visual document retrieval system utilizes two reference points at a time, three metrics (the city block metric, the Euclidean metric and the maximal distance metric) and four retrieval caps (the disjunctive, conjunctive, elliptical and Cassini oval models). User tests on the system are described.
