Architectures and frameworks

This article shows how architectures and frameworks for eLearning relate to quality aspects in this domain. It explains which levels of standards are found and what are the characteristical properties of standards for eLearning architectures and frameworks. It outlines the major approaches and explains their features, strengths and weaknesses. In doing this, it also reveals the major differences between educationally-oriented approaches favoured in Europe or technology-oriented approaches found in the USA.
