Sum and difference Doppler filter banks canceller for GMTI in airborne radar

A sum and difference Doppler filter banks canceller is introduced as a novel temporal adaptive processor. In this canceller, sum and difference Doppler filter banks are artificially formed to complete clutter cancellation for the tested Doppler channel, and improved clutter suppression and slow moving target detection performance can be achieved. The canceller also provides a remarkable computationally efficient means by temporal adaptive processing with sum and difference Doppler filters. In addition, results are shown for a high-fidelity, simulated clutter environment and a real clutter data of airborne fire control radar. The results indicate the presented canceller produces a marked SCNR performance improvement over conventional methods.
