The role of the facilitator

Any experienced member of a peer supervision group or action learning group is eligible to act as facilitator. The facilitator of peer consultation operates as a sort of ‘super team member’, doing the same things as the other group members (asking questions, reframing, broadening the issue by reflection, giving feedback, evaluating and so on) only less often because of an additional responsibility for the course of the session. The facilitator will therefore have to consider his or her behaviour in the session more consciously than the other participants.
