Method for beam-forming with fixed grid of beams, base station and user equipment

Method for beam-forming with immobile grid of beams, base station and user equipment are disclosed. The method is used in SC-MBMS (single cell multimedia broadcast/ multicast service), and it includes: predefining GoB (grid of beams) pattern at base station side; for initial transmission, choosing random index as PMI (pre-coding matrix index) from GoB; at user receiving side, choosing optimum PMI from GoB based on the rule of maximum SINR (signal to interference and noise ratio) and feeding back the optimum PMI to the base station; classifying all the PMIs feedback from all users into groups; updating the beam-forming weight coefficient based on the groups. The method and apparatus substitute the complex DoA (direction of arrival) estimation based on DoA at base station side with uplink optimum PMI feedback; the multiple beams, which is combined at base station side, is projected to possible user location or user group, so the average receiving performance of the system is improved.
