Caro's Acid–Silica Gel–Catalyzed One-Pot Synthesis of 12-Aryl-8,9,10,12-tetrahydrobenzo[a] Xanthen-11-ones

The synthesis of 12-aryl-8,9,10,12-tetrahydrobenzo[a] xanthen-11-ones from aldehyde, β-naphthol, AND dimedone in the presence of a catalytic amount of Caro's acid–silica gel in good yields under solvent-free conditions is reported.
