Direct flux and torque control of induction machine for electric vehicle applications

In this paper, a direct flux and torque control scheme for electric vehicle induction motor drives, is presented. The control algorithm utilises the stator flux as control variable and the flux level is selected in order to achieve the maximum torque capability. The proposed scheme allows a smooth transition into the field weakening region and the full utilisation of the inverter current capability during acceleration or regenerative braking. The validity of the control scheme is verified by the experimental results of an induction motor drive system.
