On performance of multiuser OFDM systems with transmit diversity

Performance of multiuser orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with transmit diversity over the frequency selective fading channel is explored. We develop a signal model for the multiuser OFDM system using Alamouti's transmit diversity scheme and apply the minimum mean square error (MMSE) method to detect the transmitted symbols of cochannel users. Performance analysis is carried out for a 2/spl times/4 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system with different number of cochannel users. It is shown that performance of the OFDM with transmit diversity in a multiuser system depends significantly on the degree of freedom (DOF) available at the receive array.
